Secure Document Storage Makes Sense

I am the office manager at a small family practice office, and our suite is very small. We have just enough room to see patients and have some office equipment, and that is about it. We switched to electronic charts last year, and that left us to decide what to do with all of the paper charts. We had to keep them, so we found a secure document storage facility nearby that has been there for years. We can get a chart if we need it, but when not in use they are in a locked facility. Maintaining patient privacy is very important to us.

A Real Vacation

My son was put in charge of decided where we would go on our next family vacation and when I found out that were going to be taking a road trip, I nearly backed out of going along at all!  However, after he brought home all the brochures included in the route 66 vacation package he bought, I’m starting to get excited about it.  We’ll be visiting some amazing historical sites and we’ll really get to see the country and experience a real taste of history along the way.  We’ll be staying in some very nice places each night too, so I know it really will be a vacation as well.

The water tank my grandfather had installed

Last night I got a call from my grandfather of all people. He said that he was thinking about selling his house out in the country. He said that his church and most of his friends lived in the city and he didn’t feel like driving into town any longer. Essentially he was asking me if I would like to buy this property out there. He said he had recently done the many renovations and even installed a new water tank. This was a lot of information for me to digest all at once; however I said that I would be out there next Saturday to check it out.

Happy Birthday for my maid

As a Malay family living in Singapore, I find life quite privileged compared to my counterparts in other countries. We even employ a maid to help us with our household chores and taking care of our children.

Our helper comes from Indonesia and we can communicate with her quite well. This is because the Malay language and Bahasa Indonesia are very similar.

That day, we just celebrated her birthday with a simple birthday cake and a birthday song. She has worked with us for 4 years now and my children like her very much.

To this day, my familiy is still thankful to the Singapore maid agency who brought her to us.

More Women Now Choose Pain Relief During Labor

More women are opting for some type of pain relief during their labor and delivery, according to a study by the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center.A survey of 378 hospitals showed that only 6 percent to 12 percent of women did not request pain relief, compared to 11 percent to 33 percent nine years prior.Regional analgesia, including epidural, spinal or combined epidural-spinal techniques, accounted for 76 percent of the anesthesia services provided in the larger hospitals and for 57 percent in smaller hospitals.There are two types of regional pain-relieving drugs - analgesics and anesthetics. Analgesia - pain relief without total loss of feeling or muscle movement - is typically administered to women in labor. This treatment blocks pain by numbing the nerves around the spinal or epidural space that encases the spinal cord. Anesthesia blocks all feeling and movement.In the past, doctors debated the safety of using an epidural during early labor in first-time mothers. But newer research shows that those who are concerned about receiving pain relief during early labor may be able to rest easy.Spinal-epidural analgesia during early labor does not increase the cesarean delivery rate in first-time mothers, according to a study by Dr. Cynthia A. Wong, associate professor of anesthesiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.This study also found that analgesia via combined spinal-epidural techniques resulted in better pain relief and a shorter labor when compared to pain medications administered by other routes such as intravenous or intramuscular injections.”Mothers have come to expect the kind of pain relief provided by regional techniques,” said Dr. Brenda Bucklin, associate professor of anesthesiology at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. “With recent studies showing that having this type of anesthesia early in labor will not increase chances of a cesarean delivery, I think their popularity will continue.”control birth
