Horse Barns Or Run In Shelters?

May 26th, 2010 by admin

Run in shelters are easy shelters to build and cheap to maintain, but are they better for your horse?  The answer to this question depends on where you are keeping your horse.  Warm dry climates are great places for run in shelters.  Cold and wet climates on the other hand, will require the use of horse barns for extra protection.  A full barn will give your horse protection against the elements much better than a run in shelter.  Also a multitude of horses can even heat up a barn with their body heat to a point that you do not even need to heat the barn in the winter.
